    A recent fix to Ruby 1.9 GC might save 1/3 of mem usage when using fork to start thin servers.

    -c change the current directory so that all other paths can be relative to it.

    Not sure this make sense when generating the config file.

    But you could:

    yeah same for both w/ the -d option

    Are you sure you see mongrel_rails as the process name w/ the top command?

    Seems like name of process in top is ruby for mongrel and thin: 

    mongrel_rails start

    On top: 

      PID COMMAND      %CPU   TIME   #TH #PRTS #MREGS RPRVT  RSHRD ...
